Life is bittersweet...

The day has come for us to close Scraploft. This was a very difficult decision for us. In fact we have mentioned closing a number of times in the past, but neither one of us had the heart to "offcially" do it. Opening this business started as a dream and we were hoping it would grow into something bigger. There have been many changes in our lives and also in the industry over the last 4 years. Thanks to all of our family and friends for their support. To Todd and Joe, THANK YOU for your time with the kids while we worked on the store stuff. A special thanks goes out to our customers. Without you, we would not have been able to do this at all. So thank you to all of YOU!!

To Sarah: Thank you so much for your partnership and hard work over the last 4 years. I love you dearly and have enjoyed working beside you.

Don't worry about us...with 6 kids, 2 husbands, 1 dog, 1 cat, 2 jobs, and many wonderful family and friends; we will keep plenty busy!

The last few months we had some issues with our website. We think we found the problem and are doing some test stuff with it. I hope there a few people out there who still read this blog and can use their word of mouth to tell everyone we will be back up soon. Livin' live for 3 years...

Scraploft.com has been live on the internet for 3 years now. Our anniversary has come and gone. It's been a tough year. Not sure what the future holds for the store. But I did want to say that I really wish this would have gone where we wanted it to go. I have enjoyed our time so far. Some things have changed, but one thing remains the same-I still love to scrapbook! That is the one thing I didn't want to change, and it hasn't. Thank goodness! :-)

Sophia is 6 months old already! Wow, where does the time go? I did a "mini" photo session out in our yard. It was fun. She loved being in the grass. The boys even got in for a few pictures! I am excited to get these photos onto a page eventually! :-)

Busy, but fun, weekend

While saving some pictures on my computer last night, I realized that we had a pretty fun-filled weekend. Como Zoo on Friday, coloring eggs (and business tax stuff-yuck!) on Saturday, and Easter on Sunday. I cannot wait to document this wonderfully busy weekend in our albums!

I so enjoy spending time with my kiddos, nieces, and nephews. It brings me joy to see them all running around playing together. I hope your weekend was just as memorable and you took photos to document the joy!

Spring is here...finally!

I do believe (and hope) that Spring is finally here in Minnesota! The sun has been shining for more than one day now. The temperature will be in the 50s and maybe 60s the rest of the week. AWESOME! We are looking forward to coloring eggs, an easter egg hunt, the bunny coming, and spending time with family this weekend.

On a business note, trying to finish up the taxes. Always an interesting time of the year. It gives us a look at the overall picture of the year. Some thinking going on in our minds. Some decisions to me made. Look for a newsletter with a sale soon!

April 16th will be 3 years since it was decided we would start Scraploft. We didn't go live until August, but April 16th will always be a big day for us. Wow, how fast time has gone by. Some changes have happened with Scraploft over the 3 years, but for now we are still around. :-)

Back to work today. I work the evening shift. 3:00-11:30pm. I only work part time, but this time around I'm sad to go back. After having my boys I was geared to get back. Be with adults again. I think this is a sign. A sign for change on the work front. We'll see. But until then I will enjoy every single moment I am able to be home with these 3 little munchkins.

Remembering these days

My scrapping stuff is all over the place. In the garage, downstairs, under the stairs, upstairs. You get the picture. Unfortunately this means all of my creativity has to remain in my head for now. Sophia is almost 3 months and I have done one page of her. One page. I don't want to forget any of her "moments" before I get to put them down on paper. It makes me sad that she is growing so fast. She is probably our last child and it's bittersweet for me right now. I want to remember everything!

Ali Edwards did a post today about her little baby and what she loves about her personality. I am going to jot down a few of the little things that Sophia does. The things that make her, well HER.

*the little squeaking noises you make while you are sleeping*
the way you lay with your hands above your head while sleeping-just like Matt did
your smiles
*the joy that comes across your face when you see your daddy or your brothers...it melts me.*
your girly clothes
your little birthmark on your head
*the way your pinky toes stick out when you fan out your toes*

Two things I am tired of-Sickness and Snow

We are suppose to be getting some rain/snow around here yet AGAIN. We were lucky that it missed our area on Sunday, but maybe not so lucky today. I am so ready for Spring and then Summer for several reasons. I hate driving in the snow. I love me some warm weather. Fresh air would be nice right about now for our family. And #1 reason for warm weather-Sandals and the beach!

Sickness has been trapped in our house for over a month now. First I had a stomach bug for a couple of days. Then Matthew (our oldest) had if for one day. No one else got that. Then a week later I got a really bad cold. Then Tyler (our middle child) had croup and ended up with a cold after that. Yesterday I took Sophia in for her 2 month well child visit and low and behold she had an ear infection! And last but not least, Matthew has been home from school for the past 2 days with a fever and cough. I also still have my cold mind you. So yes, fresh air would be very good for our family!

A special layout

When I went scrapbooking with my gals in January I brought Sophia along. I went into it expecting not to get much done as far as scrapping. We had a fabulous time and Sophia was quite the hot item there! :) I did manage to get this one page done. It's a special one because it's the first one for Sophia's album. It also means a lot to me because daddy and daughter have a special bond from day one. She knew right where her spot would be with daddy. Close to his heart. It's wonderful to have a girl in our little family. The added bonus: the bow in her hair!

I did also start a mini album for family photos and I will post that once I get it finished. I am looking forward to a day of scrapbooking with Sarah and some other friends this Saturday.

It's been too long...

Hey everyone. I know that's it has been awhile since I posted on this here blog. We are still chugging along here with the store. We've been getting more orders lately than I expected. Which is GREAT! It's always interesting to see what people order from us and honestly it helps pay the bills a bit. :)

The last month has been filled with lots of things. Valentine's Day, school conferences, joy for Sarah's family, first smiles from Sophia, and daily life. I am so grateful for all of those special people in my life. You know who you are! :)

Keep on scrapping and pray for warm weather to stay in MN soon!

I'm going to our annual scrapping retreat at Birch Park this weekend. I am bringing Sophia with me and we will be there during the day for sure. I'm not sure if we are staying over night yet. We will have to see how it goes day to day. I haven't worked on any scrapping projects since August! Will I even know what to do anymore? I did make some cards for a fundraiser last month, so I haven't been totally out of the crafting loop. I know it will be interesting to see how much I actually get done this weekend! :)

Sarah and I have talked about having a store sale soon. 2008 was a slow year in the industry. Let's hope 2009 will start out right for us! Keep checking back here for details.

Our little angel has arrived!

We were blessed with little Sophia on December 26th. She knew when she wanted to arrive, so things went pretty quickly. Matthew and Tyler love her to pieces and are so proud to have a little sister. There is no doubt that she will be protected by her big brothers and her daddy! My heart is bursting with joy with her arrival. I now have my girl! :)

An update...

Matthew and I had our "date" on Friday night. We went out to Noodles and Company (his choice of course) for dinner. We did some talking there. He didn't have much more to share with me about what's been bothering him, but that's ok. We then went to look at some things for the his little sister. He had fun playing with the mobiles at Pottery Barn kids and coming up with other ideas for playing in the crib with her. It's so funny to see how his little mind works!

We then stopped in Barnes and Noble cafe for a treat. He got a smoothie and I got hot chocolate. We sat down at a little table for a bit and chatted. He says he is worried about me missing him while he is at school. He thinks about me while at school and wonders what I am doing. I told him I do miss him, but I am fine. I look forward to seeing him after school and encouraged him to not worry so much. I also told him how proud of him I am that he did not cry at school on Thursday or Friday. He said he had a fun time with me and he is looking forward to more times alone with mom. I think it went well. We will see what the coming week brings.

After discussing with his teacher, I will try not volunteering on Wednesday. I think if he sees me at school it makes it harder for him. We'll see if that makes a difference.

I haven't been able to scrap at all because all of my stuff is packed up in bins. Getting ready to move stuff out to the garage so we can work on the basement. Hopefully once our office is done (and we adjust to having 3 kiddos!), I can scrap to my heart's content. :)

We are looking forward to Thanksgiving this week. I always look forward to spending time with my family. Also I am looking forward to shopping on Friday. I hope to get a lot of my xmas shopping done.

Only time will tell....

Matthew has been having a rough time since last Monday. He's been crying when he has to go to school and even when he is going to bed. He says it's because he misses me while he is at school. He also worries about me missing him too much. He is scared about what is going to happen when his little sister arrives. All kinds of things going through his head and he is having trouble dealing with it all. For a six year old, he worries a whole lot. It makes me sad to see him crying. I send him to school every day hoping that will be the day there will be no tears. He is exactly like me though. Holds his heart on his sleeve. Sensitive and caring. I guess that's why it's so, so difficult for me to see him going through this rough patch. I have promised him a mommy/matthew "date" this weekend. He picks what we do. I am excited to see what we will do together. I hope it helps him through this.

Other than that...7 weeks (about) and counting until our little one is here. Our house isn't ready, but that's ok. We will make it work. That's what being a parent is about. Daily adjustment. Dealing with what comes our way. It's great and rewarding!

It's cold outside and I am so ready for spring already. Ha Ha! It's going to be a VERY long winter for me I guess.

Waiting for the day when I will be able to scrap again. Maybe in January for a day or two with the gals!

Wii mania has hit our house!

Matthew and Tyler have been saving money up for a Wii. It started with the first deposit into the "Wii cup" on Matthew's birthday. 6 teeth and extra money along the way later, we have a Wii! The boys were gone over at grandma's house and Joe set it up last night. Joe and I played a couple of games of bowling because we knew once the boys started playing it would be rare that we would get to play eachother! :) I can see how playing it can become addicting though.

The boys came home today and said, "what are the Wii controllers for?" Then they looked up and saw the console on the shelf. They both started to scream from excitement. They are upstairs playing baseball now. Wii mania is in the Weierke household...Look out!

Halloween Pics

We had great fun on Halloween. There were lots of screams (of fun) and good food. Trick or treating was fun with all of the kiddos. The older kids enjoyed running ahead to the doors and the little ones literally "fell" behind at times. I don't know about the other adults that were with, but I was tired upon returning back to my house! :)

My camera was being fussy so I didn't get as many photos of the night as I wanted to. The one of all of the kids by the garage is my favorite.

Hello to all! I have been meaning to post pictures of the adventures we have been on this Fall. Unfortunately I'm having trouble figuring out how to do that since my hubby rearranged the pictures on the computer.

We are now looking forward to Halloween! I (Jenn) will be hosting and the boys' cousins are coming over for trick or treating. There will be 8 or 9 kids in my house. It will be a blast! :)

Other news...baby is kicking away. It's such a good feeling to have her (yes her!) moving around in there. We are so very pumped to welcome a little girl into our home in just over 2 months. My boys are crazy excited for a little sister!

Our Scraploft business is going fine. After my baby is born and we adjust, we will bring more focus back to the business. Family time is #1 in both our lives.

Hopefully I will have enough patience to get some photos uploaded soon! :)

Family coming home

My little sis and her family are coming home on Tuesday! They are moving back here from Arizona. They left for Arizona in March 2007, have had some changes in their lives, and have come to realize home is where they need to be for now. So they are headed back to Minnesota tomorrow! They are all flying in, so I pray for good travels. With three kids in tow, traveling can be interesting. We are having a welcome home get together with them on Wednesday. The best part...(besides having them close to us again) is getting to meet my new niece, Izabella. A new baby adds more joy to an already happy life! :)

Fall Weekend

This past weekend was a fun weekend for our family. Saturday we went to a local apple orchard with grandma and great-grandma. Matthew rode a pony and both the boys went into the petting zoo. They also discovered a playground there that they really enjoyed. It was a beautiful day to be outside.

Sunday we had made plans to go to get pumpkins with Sarah and her family. We were all geared up to pick pumpkins, go on a hayride, play in the hay hill, and eat some apples. But the weather didn't cooperate so much that day. It rained in the morning and was gloomy most of the day. However we did spend a wonderful and fun-filled day with them. We went to the Mall of America, specifically the Nickolodeon park. All of the kids had a good time going on the rides. I had a great time watching them. As usual, I took lots of pictures. It was nice to have some fun with everyone. I can't wait to do it again. Our pumpkin day will be rescheduled. We are looking forward to that too. Continuing traditions is very important to our family! :)

Things going on...

The summer is officially almost over. We've been to the fair (I went twice) and ate too much. Matthew starts 1st grade on Tuesday. The weather is getting a little cooler in the evening. Though I heard on the radio that it's going to be 90+ degrees tomorrow. Huh?

Where did the time go? Our challenge posts have fallen off the wagon. We didn't get an anniversary sale in yet. We are still planning on having one and our challenges will once again return. But for now, enjoy what's left of the summer. Play outside, laugh, smile, and take more photos!

Oh, I suppose I should share a little news since it is part of the reason I have been so busy. We are expecting another little one in January. Matthew and Tyler will be big brothers! :) Our family has been praying for this for some time now and we hope that we continue to be blessed with the good things in life. Cherish them always...

Scraploft celebrates 2 years!

Yes, it has been two years since Scraploft went live on the net. The last two years have been full of ups and downs. The industry is changing constantly. We are busy ladies. But we have enjoyed every bit of it. The past year has been a challenge for us and the business. We have watched many other stores fall. I have found this difficult. As I have considered this endeavor one of my "babies" it would be hard to let go. So we are charging ahead for now. Who knows what the future will bring for us? For now we are celebrating working together as a team for 2 years. Thank you to my business partner and friend, Sarah. Whatever happens we will know we did it together.

Busy, Busy Summer

My family and I returned yesterday from a week-long vacation in the northern part of Minnesota. We went to a cabin with my in-laws for 4 days and then to a family reunion on my side for the last 4. It was a wonderful time and we enjoyed spending time with everyone. Both of my boys now love the water. And Matthew's favorite thing to do now is fish! He caught over 50 fish over the course of the week. They were small ones-perch and sunnies-but hey we were all proud of him!

Though a vacation is nice it was also good to be home last night. Good to sleep in my bed. Good to hear the noises of the cities. Good to watch a little TV. Just an all-around good feeling.

That week away has just added to an already busy summer in our household. Both Sarah and I are having a crazy (but a good crazy) time. That has caused us to get a bit behind on our challenge posts. I haven't scrapped much at all this summer actually. We are going on a retreat towards the end of this month, so our hope is to get a few of the challenge posts done. Then we can share them with all of you! So continue to be patient with us.

I am totally into it FOR SURE because my man, David Cook is in the finale! Yes, something about him is amazing. When he sings, there is true emotion in it. I've cried a few times. ~He brought cupcakes for his friends in his kindergarten class today.

~We went to lunch at Noodles and Company (one of his favorites) with daddy.

~We went to play at the park by daddy's work.

~Daddy met us at the park and then we headed to Como Zoo

~They saw the animals, rode some rides, and walked a lot. The gorillas were Matthew's favorite.

~Went to dinner with Auntie Sarah and Uncle Todd. Matthew had his name announced to the restaurant. He thought that was pretty cool.

~Ended the night with reading two books and off to bed. A big hug and kiss before bed for this big boy of mine.

It's hard to believe he is 6 years old. Seems like time just flies by. He is so very proud of being 6 though. So Happy Birthday bud! I had a great time with you today.

National Scrapbooking Day give away...

National Scrapbooking Day is tomorrow. It's a day (or weekend) to celebrate this hobby that we are involved in. Scrapbooking has brought so much into my life. I have met wonderful friends, treasured many memories, and even opened a small business with one of my greatest friends.

We are excited to start a challenge via our blog. Our goal is to stimulate your creative mind and encourage you to create outside your comfort zone.

We would love to see your work so we have set up a Flickr group. This will give you the opportunity to share your creations with other artsy folk as well!

To post your layouts on Flickr:

Finished... Finally

So I finally finished a little mini-album that I have been working on since mid-January. When I first started it I got *most* of it done - all about 2 pages.

It's taken me a six weeks to finish the last two pages. Pathetic I know. Anyway - the pics are from 2005 when the Weierke's and the Niemi's went to the state fair. So much fun! Is summer here yet?

The paper in the album is the My Minds Eye, Front Porch. It is an older line by MME, but the colors fit perfectly.

So be on the lookout for a blog announcment next week - Jenn and I hope you will like it.

So as most of you know Jenn and I went to Birch Park last weekend. We had a great time. We also somewhere amongst the laugher also did some scrapbooking.

Here are some of the pages I did...
This one was out of my "regular" scrapbooking style. It is using Fancy Pants, Clair de Lune paper and die cuts. Misc. red buttons. You can't see that I hand glittered the design with a sparkle pen. One of my faves - even though it was a design stretch for me.

This page is using the Sassafrass Lass Day Dream and Scrumptious lines. Not to mention the new vinyal Thickers by American Crafts.

This page is again using the Thickers by American Crafts (the green "step" and the orange "way"), along with 7 Gypsies stamps - travel stamps.

I've attached some other pages with product we don't carry - yes I actually own products that do not come from our store. Jenn and I need to buy for the masses, not just the stuff that we love - so every now and then I will wander into my LSS and pick up a few things. Here are a couple of other pages.
I feel like I've caught the scrapbook bug again. I went so long without creating anything, so keep an eye out for two mini books and I am working on finishing. :-)

I've never laughed so hard...

We had a great weekend. It went by so fast. Jenn and I hosted a scrapbook retreat this past weekend at Birch Park, in WI. We had a great time and our friend Alli came from New Mexico. Talk about a long trip to scrapbook. It was so nice to see her. :-)

I officially have a scrapbook hangover - if there is such a thing. Having not gone to bed any earlier than 4AM on any given night - I was very tired this morning when I got up to go to work. Ever felt like your muscles are made of jello and your brain is made of oatmeal - that's how I felt when I woke up. Let's just say I wasn't functioning at peak performance at the ole' job today.

Anyway - I think I laughed more this last weekend than I can remember. My cheeks actually feel a bit sore from smiling.

I would like to shout-out to all that came - It wouldn't have been as fun without you. To Suzy, Kim, Amber, Shari, Yvonne, Jenn, Linda, Nicole, Karin, Alli, Deanna, Leslie, Heidi, Marni, Karen, Paige, Mary Jo, and Kelly you made my weekend. Thanks for all the laughter and fun.

counting the days...

It seems like it's been forever since I did some scrapbooking. Actually it has been awhile. Sarah and I are going on a retreat next Thursday. We are going to see some of our fellow scrappers and friends. I am SO looking forward to it. Get some "therapy" time. That's one thing scrapbooking is to me, therapy. It is time for me to reflect. Expend my energy doing something important. Something for myself and for my children. It's also therapy because it usually involves lots of socializing and LAUGHING! I can't wait!

We had a "meeting" tonight. Well it was suppose to be a meeting, but it ended up being a wonderful dinner with my friend, sister, business partner. Just a good talk. It was nice. Thank you Sarah!

We realized that we are getting older and there's nothing we can do about it! :) Except deal with it and try to make each year happy.

Seriously though...We have goals for the business and we hope we can achieve them this year. Lots of questions looming and our plan is to come together again in a couple weeks and discuss our plan for 2008.

I will share projects I work on at our retreat. We have some new items for the store too. I just have to get them entered. Will share when they are up on the site.

New things...

So I've had some extra time on my hands. Of course I haven't done anything productive. Caught up on TV, and surfed the internet. Still left to do: take down the tree, start getting ready for birch park, balance the checkbook, grocery shop, do laundery, clean the bed room, vaccumm the stairs and much, much more.

In my catching up with my internet surfing I've seen lot's of new year's challenges. I think so many of them are fun, but I need to pick the one that is most doable for me. I think I've found the one for me. The one word challenge (from Ali E's blog) My word is going to be flexible.

flex·i·ble /ˈflɛksəbəl/ [flek-suh-buhl]
–adjective
1. capable of being bent, usually without breaking; easily bent: a flexible ruler.
2. susceptible of modification or adaptation; adaptable: a flexible schedule.
3. willing or disposed to yield; pliable: a flexible personality. –noun
4. a flexible substance or material, as rubber or leather.

This is something that I am going to focus on at work. I've never been good with change, but hopefully with a little work I can embrace it a little easier.

I also want to be more flexible with my husband. I think this will be the hardest. I'm a hard women to live with and realize that I am pretty demanding. Hopefully in the next year I can work in this. :-)

GREAT in 2008!

I was asked by a friend on New Year's Eve, what was one good thing that happend to me in 2007. Nothing came to mind right away. My life is happy in general with my husband, my boys, my friends, etc. There isn't one specific "event" I could think of that made 2007 stand out to me. Sad, isn't it? How one year can pass me by and I can't remember one thing that made it memorable.

Now this morning, while folding towels at the washing machine and looking around at my basement that desperately needs a cleaning, I had this thought come to me. An idea. "Make it Great in 2008!" So my resolution this year is to make it great. Try my best to make my life better. Change in ways I want to change, but also be happy with what I have. Try harder at this business. Take more photos. Scrapbook more. Laugh more. Live more. Just do more great things. That's all.

Random thought for today. Maybe I will turn this thought into a mini book of some sort as the year goes on. Who knows!

A little Christmas Cheer...

So I get home late last night from work, which sometimes happen and I get the creative bug (which doesn't happen nearly enough). I run up to the office and create this.

Besides scrapbooking, one of my other favorite things to do during "me" time is read. I LOVE to read. So, in honor of my other hobby, I created a bookmark out of my scrapping supplies. Sarah is an avid reader too, so I made one for her as well. They were both made using a tag off clothing from Target.

We finally received some new stuff at the store! The Explore line from We R Memory Keepers is awesome! I am so excited to use these for my projects.

I love me some letter stickers too. Letter stickers were a staple of mine when I first started scrapping. I then moved into using my die cut tool. Now I am back to using letter stickers. So much easier. The doodlebug stickers are going to be fun to use. I can't wait!

Fall Fun

We went to Red Wing this weekend for our annual fall excursion. Always a good time and full of great pictures. I can't wait to add the photos to my fall album. Here is a layout I did with the Gretal line from Cosmo Cricket. I used last year's fall pictures for this project.

I wish Fall was a little longer. I love all the colors and the weather cool enough for a sweat shirt. Enjoy this semi-warm weather while it's here. Winter will arrive before we know it!

It's been a week since a post. I worked all weekend, so no new projects completed. We still have some new products that we are waiting to come in to the store. Pictures to come when we have them. So today's post is about inspiration. Who inspires you in your scrapbooking? Well...I love the way that Sarah scraps. She is so creative. She may not believe that, but she is. She inspires me when we scrap together. So talented.

I also am inspired by Ali Edwards. So talented. Every single project she works on gives me inspiration. Check out this project she is working on for Christmas. I have such a hard time scrapbooking my christmas photos. I think it's because there are too many and I don't know where to start! I am actually trying to come up with a way to display the ones from last year. Well, here is an idea...

Weekend Projects...

I cleaned up the kitchen table and set up my "scrap space" on Thursday. I managed to squeeze out two layouts over the weekend. I used some of our new products. I also pulled out some older stuff too. It was fun to get some pages done!

Scraploft now has the new self-adhesive felt ribbon from Queen & Company. We have a variety of color and designs. Check them out!

Latest Additions...

We have some new stuff added to our store from 7 gypsies. We had some requests for these stickers. These are fun to use as journaling accents. There are more than the Halloween ones available, so checke them out! We also added some more tags. I can't wait to use these for journaling as well. It makes it so easy to journal! Rub-ons are also fun to use.

The new interchangable stamps are going to be fun to use too. We did receive the rectangle ones and we will be getting the round ones in sometime soon. We also will have additional seals to interchange with the ones that are included.

We have new albums from 7 gypsies as well. Including, the 5x7 ring book, composition book, and 12x12 naked binder. Of course there are albums from Maya road available too. These are going to be so fun to alter!

I hope to be doing some projects soon. I will post ideas on how I use these products soon!
